I don’t even... They wrote custom software to circumvent the intended usage just like (if not exactly the same as) the one in the Gizmodo article. That’s a hack. O_o

So... just stick with it. Got it.

Oh, very nice. I’ll wait till it matures a bit but good find!

I’m not backstepping; it can clearly support animated gifs and video (as evidenced by the Gizmodo article you linked). Since you provided evidence that it can display such content, I clarified that displaying animated gifs and video files is TOTALLY different than functioning as a monitor, which you finally admit,

FINALLY an Earth map. Too bad it’s only regular size though...

  1. The manufacturer does not state the Optimus Maximus is designed for dynamic content. You’re totally misrepresenting facts.

(Minor Spoilers)

ROFL

Apparently YOU don’t realize what that means. They’re talking about characters that can be displayed (e.g. you can specify a character by its HTML code); not that the keycaps can be scripted or programmed to do whatever.

Huh, guess she is asexual after all. I thought you were trying to say omnisexual. My mistake!

Asexual does not mean what you think it means.

Are you really comparing display of static characters to display of video? The Optimus Maximus was designed to display static images as well (e.g. icons), however video display was neither it’s intended use nor supported by the manufacturer.

You’ve clearly never worked in software development. You can’t just throw money at a project to make it work.

Yes, they both take their cut; that’s how they make money.

There’s no reason to keep it on iOS first aside from a sizeable monetary gain, and locking yourself away from (literally) a billion potential players indicates more than just a back scratch.

There is no distinction between hardware and software modification; they are both modifications to the original system. The issue is whether or not the system was designed to support the modification. Swapping keycaps on a mechanical keyboard is modding but not hacking (the keycaps were designed to be replaceable).

*sigh*

Also because the character is French not Japanese.

I believe Bear is the writer and Pie is the artist. They are actually in a relationship.
