People believe it because companies have been doing it for years and it works.

They changed the ages of the girls, for one thing, and made the interactions consensual. Those are two pretty big changes to accommodate western culture, and I’d imagine they’d have a fairly large impact on who might be interested in the game. I’m not against sexually explicit games, but I certainly wouldn't play one

Sure, I’m sure the ESRB has something to do with it, because the ESRB is judging on western cultural standards. That is ultimately what it comes down to: a difference in cultural standards across different cultures. They’re changing their product to make it more marketable to the culture to whom it’s being marketed.

Whether they were AO or not, they would certainly be more difficult to market and sell, since their content is less culturally accepted in the west. This is about marketing to a specific region for the greatest number of sales.

It's not that they can't. It's that that sort of thing is less accepted over here culturally, and they want to sell video games. It makes marketing the game easier over here.

The gimmick is that it's VR ready for $200.

From what I read the 480X is comparable and even slightly superior to a 1070 from Nvidia (the entire point is that it's a $200 card that is VR capable). Two of them isn't going to be twice the performance, but that's not what I said. What I said was that it would be better performance than the Nvidia 1080 for less

You should see a doctor.

We could go with a nice Hangover Black in the living room, and then a Nut Corn Crunch in the guest room.

Poop comes in a lot of different shades. He wasn't necessarily wrong.

Finally, someone with some goddamn sense.

Still better than burnt orange.

Well, all right then. It's always handy and refreshing when someone is just right up front about being an asshole. Removes all the hassle of guesswork.

For what it's worth, you could get two of AMD's new GPUs for 66.6% of the price of one Nvidia 1080, and get better performance.

You've basically just described soccer in about 30% of the world.

Because you hate fun?

Same was true for all the other gaming blogs. Kotaku's no further behind this story than anyone else, so saying Kotaku is showing some kind of bias seems pretty far fetched.

This year VR came out. How much more original and different do you want to get?

Also I haven’t had this much fun showing a video game thing to my non-gamer friends in ever.

It’s not being reported on any of the other game blogs yet either, probably because there’s not much to report until the dedicated tech enthusiasts break down what these new cards actually mean in terms of performance for the actual end users. We’re talking about new tech that was announced less than 24 hours ago.
