Yeah sorry, that was my mistake. The wording of the article does its level best to obfuscate the fact that this is being licensed by a third party, not developed by CDPR directly. From that perspective, it makes more sense.

CDPR is worth a ton of money and logically could easily afford do this without resorting to crowdfunding. Why should the public pay to have this made? Why should anyone feel empathy for a corporation? The core issue would be no different if Nintendo or Sega or Capcom did the same thing.

Absolutely agree on all counts.  I finally got around to finishing the DLC for Odyssey last year and good god...Think the final total was somewhere north of 200 hours which is at least 160 hours too long, or four times more content than any game ever needs.
