Well, he wrote his share of lame tunes. But then so did Lennon and Dylan, etc. (Neil Young, remember, wrote a pretty awful 9/11 song too.) It was just McCartney's misfortune that some of his lamest tunes became catchy radio fodder while Lennon's and Dylan's worst songs were forgotten.
