Same! I loved the shoutouts to KingWorld. Especially the subtlety of some of them - like the reference to the “crazy storm” (a reference to my guiltiest King pleasure, “Storm of the Century,” which apparently only I and four other people on the planet enjoyed).

I think this is too harsh. Of course 1st episode of any King-related multiepisode outing is going to proceed quickly and sketch out the involved characters, of whom there are a handful. That’s a bit like saying you didn’t like the swimming pool because you got wet. It’s just the nature of the thing.
