No, but that’s exactly my point! If she were truly a “medium” person it’d be understandable, the disparate outcomes. But she wasn’t. She was mostly kinda bad, did one good thing, and hey presto. Meanwhile Chidi is innately a good person, loyal and deeply invested in being ethical, but he just has this mental anxiety

Good point. I’ll have to rethink that. It still just ...feels wrong, somehow?

OK, that much makes sense! How do you explain Mindy though? She’s the element that trips me up.

True and totally solid point but he isn’t really the opposite of Tahani. Good acts/selfish motivation isn’t the flip side of act-less because of good intentions. Right? Or am I missing something?

Granted. Honestly what trips me up is Chidi vs. Mindy. That outcome makes zero sense in any even slightly logical system.

OK, OK, granted, .. buuut. Is it just me or is Chidi actually the one human whose presence makes no sense in the Bad Place? I can make a strong argument for any of the others being present, either in a vacuum or comparatively - especially compared to Mindy, for God’s sake. But Chidi goes to the Bad Place while Mindy

As well he fucking should.

What’s hard about that is that there is nothing hard about it. There’s no hard break at that point in the show. Period. See above.

Nothing in GG - save the funeral scenes in the revival AYITL - was ever as devastating as the Rory/Dean/Lindsay/Lorelai fallout after the unfortunate sex decision. The Lorelai/Rory scene in particular can still break my heart, with zero warning or warmup.

No laugh track. Never had it. Still doesn’t. That’s people in the audience actually laughing. That’s not “show prompting you to laugh” - it’s people actually finding humor.

Exactly, yeah - well put. He’s responsive to his community. He doesn’t set himself apart. Also, he makes me want to be a better person. Well. At least on Twitter. Granted, that’s a low bar.

Nope.

True story!

I’m so sorry. I thought it was hilarious.

I’m not sure who half these folks are but I seriously, seriously cannot believe that no one - NO ONE?! - picked Lin-Manuel Miranda. He’s hilarious and awesome and makes me believe the human race has an actual future.

W&G didn’t use laugh tracks. Live audience.

I couldn’t disagree more on the “stale” conclusion. I thought it was amazing. W&G was always a bit problematic, even for the time, and obviously that ain’t gonna fly this time around. And yeah, it’s been ten years. So if W&G at its optimal best was a 10, I think the revival pilot came in at a solid 7, with a few

Jesus - that lede in the newspaper article. I feel like vomiting.

Well, for some people, the essential resources for such a complicated task just aren’t there, yanno?
