I was going to come down into the comments and say that the only way to improve that Datsun prop rod design is to replace it with a gas strut, but then you had to go and blame modern cars for using them because they’re failure prone. How often have you actually seen them fail, though? I’m genuinely curious since I’ve s

Maybe it’s because I’m an immigrant (from Europe), or maybe it’s because I’m and “oddball” for a white guy who grew up in the south, but seeing racism blatantly disregarded as historical pride makes me sick to my stomach. I’ve lived in Georgia, Florida, and Alabama and I can tell you all with absolute honesty that

No sir... It's slightly to the right! All about perspective ;)

What? I’ve driven 100miles on plugs, pulled them out, and was able to tell the difference instantly.

I feel like the answer should be, “how long does that 200k need to last? 5 years? Okay, so divide that 200k in half, then divide it by 5, and now you have the amount you’ll be paying yearly on a 100k vehicle to use as a track toy.” always divide your budget in half, then spend that for track toys... I’ve learned my

Hey, that same guy has come out to topeka a few times and gotten passed by a golf :)

I’ve thought about doing this on so many occasions when I had my wrx, and my z, and now my golf. I’d always want it to be reversible by plasti dipping whit first, and then letting people go to town. Truthfully, I’m just terrified of other people’s skillset and ignoring the “rules” I’d give them, like “no vulgar

Unless the person behind you is a cop, then even if they hit you, it's your fault...

The idiocy associated with the z cars is the same crap with mustangs, camaros, and the wrx/sti... Just a bad crowd of people giving good cars a bad name.

I've only driven the later model. Maybe I need to give an early model a drive myself and see. The later model was pretty fun, I'll admit, but it left me wanting more very quickly.

The 20k number is a typical figure to get pretty much any older street car track worthy, and I'm not even talking engine. Besides, swapping an engine is not a 5k thing like most people claim. I've seen more than one project car fall victim to the "ls into everything" trend and a typical swap build runs 15k to do it

Good on you, David, for taking the time Yo help! That's me serious community love, and I'm glad to see it!

I don’t understand how it would have been a logistical nightmare when they could have just taken a typical 4cyl they produce, lopped off two cylinders, and stuck it into another 4cyl... I know that sounds simplistic and idiotic, but it’s really not far off. Things don’t change that much.

I believe a more appropriate title here would have been “here is a real way to become a race car driver for the .1%”.

I really don't get the appeal of these older MR2s. Personally I find them hideously ugly. I've run into a few at the track and they're always blowing black smoke and look like they're out of control. They never look composed through a corner and are pretty terribly slow unless you dump 20k+ worth of work into them.

SHAME.... SHAME.......... SHAME

How is this any better than a rando rich guy storing a Porsche in his garage for 20 years?

Debate point... Ugh, the technology that the cell phone sits on actually started before electronics in cars were even a thing. I believe that's definitely before the 350z chassis came out...

I had a family member who worked on the more complex or unusual cases at a Volvo, subaru dealership. About once a month he'd get a case that was "intermittent" and he'd have to drive the car for a few days to and from work to see if he could reproduce the issue. On occasion we'd have to run to the store and we'd take

They're not too bad. Honestly, its just another Japanese econobox. The difference is that subaru are more sensitive to lack of maintenance than most Jap cars. Not German car sensitive to not being taken care of, though. Spark plugs on a subaru are a pita because of how the engine works (Porsche has the same issues).
