I like Alec Baldwins work but life is a lot easier when I imagine that every famous person is a raging douchebag.

What do you want to wager Trump wanted to go and keep an eye on his baby, but the Secret Service was all, “NO WAY, YOU STUPID MOTHERFUCKER.”

Yes, especially since Irma is just a deep state hoax. Next stop, Mar-a-Lago!!!

Simple solution, dealers test driving vehicles need to post a sign on the rear of the vehicle saying SERVICE TEST DRIVE (111) 222-3333 with the dealership phone number. That way if it’s being driven irresponsibly or in an inappropriate location people can call and report it. Drive-in restaurant? no way. Eat on your

Not your car, not your call. The fact that thousands of people do a thing does not make it appropriate. Take your own car to the drive through, Tak.

in case anybody was wondering it is still illegal to destroy public property.

He’s a “real estate investor” and she’s “an engineer in Silicon Valley who was born in Hong Kong and came to the U.S. for college”.

“poofy director pants” = jodhpurs (horse riding pants)

All of this, but especially number 1. This street was desegregated 70 years ago - everyone who owned homes on the street then is in the ground already. There’s no “karmic justice” for segregation in fucking with people who live there now.

That was kinda my take on this too. I’m all for wealth redistribution and won’t shed a tear for these folks, but it seems like the city just flat took their property. The line about “keeping their mailing address up to date” really makes it seem like they were never notified about the problem.

Sounds like their HOA fucked up, which is pretty funny because isn’t avoiding this sort of problem the reason for setting up something like an HOA?

They’re scum because they’re rich? Otherwise, this incident sounds like something that could happen to any homeowners’ association. We almost had ours “sold” to a management company in another state because we didn’t file the right paperwork. It took a year of lawyers and neighborhood political frenzy to get that

I’ve seen a lot of writers stretch the particulars of a story to get their hot take, but this... Cirque du Soleil doesn’t bend this much to put on a show.

(1) Racial covenants used to be enforced everywhere, not just here, so it’s not like this is some special extra-racist enclave.

The residents were pissed, and petitioned the Board of Supervisors to nullify the sale. One resident explained to The San Francisco Chronicle the shock that they, the city’s wealthy, could be so rudely taken advantage of

“and up until 1948, it was racially segregated. That is, a few decades ago, Tina and Michael couldn’t buy a house on Presidio Terrace.”

It looks a bit like the XRV in Marooned (1969, starring Gregory Peck, David Janssen, Richard Crenna, James Franciscus and Gene Hackman), which itself may have been inspired by the Martin X-23. A classic film reference wouldn’t be out of place in The Simpsons.

It wasn’t until I read a book about the Battle of Britain a while back that I realized how closely connected it was to the Battle of France. It was essentially one long campaign, and for all of their incredible success in France it was one the Germans did not fare as well in as it seemed.
