I remember that too when I traveled to the U.K. back in high school! I’ll miss Kotaku UK, I remember Laura Kate Dale in particular breaking a lot of news about the Switch up to its release. I hope all the writers land on their feet, now is such a difficult time to be a journalist (among myriad other professions, to be Read more

I just want to add this though: Don’t write for free. You’re already doing that here, and you don’t have any quota or promotion or creative restrictions you could have for a place that relies on eager writers to generate its revenue without taking a paycheck. I sound like a hypocrite, since both my internships were Read more

I’m sorry things are difficult for you professionally. I knew a guy whose wife lost her airline industry-related job after 9/11, and I’m sure things are similarly dire-looking for the place now. Read more

I’d normally agree with you, but the most difficult class is econ, which is just a general requirement. Editing is really tough but I’m learning tons from it, so that’s a good thing. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t learning relevant stuff from econ too, but it doesn’t mean I like doing math! lol Read more

Hey Datacide! Things have been alright here, just taking things day by day. I’m at home with my mom, little sister, stepdad and dog, the last of which I’m most grateful of all to have around. (Although I love the rest of my family too :) Read more

In middle school, I somehow got to school at 7:30 a.m. after a half-hour car ride, so I had to wake up at 6. HOW DID I DO THAT EVERY DAY???!!

Thank you for the work you do. My mom’s a teacher and my dad’s a professor, and both are definitely struggling to adjust (and so am I as a student lol). But as bad as things are, I think the Internet has definitely saved a ton of people’s livelihoods.

Ha! I think I’d probably need to make actual money in order to classify it as a job. Full-time staff members get a tiny stipend but I don’t even get that. I get to pretty much write whatever I want with no real deadline though, plus it’s a good community. Like TAY! (Although yes, I believe actual paid games journos Read more

Yeah, I thought about it and what you said was part of the reason: I know this isn’t much advance notice, so I wanted to give everyone another day to sign up/ get ready. (although everyone is absolutely welcome to join at any point during the event!) Read more

Nope, but it turns out it’s neither day (also bc of covid-19 changing plans)! I’ll be interviewing on Tuesday and I’ll have word on whether I’m continuing to the next interview phase next Saturday.

Nope, we’re having online classes instead, but for some like my physical theater class, I have no idea how they could possibly do that. I’ve also been getting emails from professors effectively saying, “I have no idea how this will work.” Some of my profs aren’t exactly tech-savvy, so this will be interesting. Read more
