After reading this article and all the comments, here are three important things to realize:
It’s definitely misleading AND sensationalist. Especially when people are just skimming headlines, it gives a negative image to Tesla the environmentalist as “chopping down a forest” would generally be perceived as bad, where farming a farm is generally perceived as fine.
I mean they essentially did buy a farm. A tree farm.
I mean, Musk is right; a monoculture grove of trees planted to be harvested as cardboard stock isn’t the same as bulldozing the Amazon. This isn’t old-growth forest. How many times has Volkswagen cleared trees to build a factory without a peep from anybody?
This is interesting, but can anyone speak to how (if?) limiting the word selection to at 7,000 word list benefits the security of the system? Why not use dice and a standard dictionary with 100,000 words (3 dice to pic the page, and then narrow down the word selection with column/row references)? I'm confused as to…
