As a gift from a relative, I received this magazine for years until it folded (and my older brothers were sent the male version: Breakaway). Even 10-year-old me (raised deep in the cult of Bill Gothard's Institute of Basic Life Principles) thought it was all boring and useless and that it made me vaguely angry.

I feel the same way about Armie Hammer (and Taylor Kitsch). I just want them to succeed in their endeavours—for no particular reason.

THIS IS ALL I WANT.

That is what I immediately thought of as well. He was so excellent in that role.

Boooo! I blame the last Mission: Impossible movie for taking all the spy money box office from Man From UNCLE.

Paul F. Tompkins is the best podcast guest always!

The tone of the comments here are really unfortunate.

Tbh, I am not completely up on all the history either, although, I know that he was credited as one of the lyricists on many of their songs.

Mike Love. Of course. Just lean into that awfulness, man. We already expect it from you.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. (I have nothing else to add.)

I agree with you, but I am specifying the actual production companies which refer to themselves as "faith-based."

And also, Shannon is certainly more expressive. But, yeah, definitely second cousins or something.

I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHO HE ALWAYS REMINDED ME OF FOR YEARS. THANK YOU.

I loved him on the Nerdist. All his ranting about water and phones was perf!

I really appreciated that quietness. It seemed to perfectly complement the Lovings themselves. That gave it specific impact: just watching these two quiet, private people refuse to stop existing. I loved it.

P.S. Won't be seeing this though. Not even for Sam.

Is this being produced by a faith-based production company though? Because having been a kid in a conservative church when this book was popular—I know that this one is not beloved by the type that sees God's Not Dead. I remember the "heretical" label being pushed on this one (it's that darn woman God).

It's terrible.

Yes, but, Hugh Jackman plays a butter salesman in the James Mangold directed Kate & Leopold (co-starring Sabretooth), so really.

Is this a deep-cut Kate & Leopold reference? I am embarrassed that I know enough about that movie to even think that.
