Optics aren’t the issue here. The actual behavior is

Just had a falling out with a lifelong friend over this last week. He’s cop in a metro area and at first we had good report: I messaged him wishing him safety and told him I would also be downtown protesting against systemic racism and the death of George Floyd. He messaged back with support and that Chauvin deserved

If you aren’t interested in politics just gloss over anything that Justin writes. I think he’s the official political columnist at Jalopnik. Unfortunately, with many of the other writers gone he’s filling in with increasing amounts of political-but-vaguely related-to-automotive-so-I-can-rail-on-capitalism pieces.

If you paid for the gold membership you can set your filters to leave out the politics.

My father was one of the good ones; very much by the book. So much so he made an enemy of the chief and the other good’ol boys in the dept because he refused to go along with their BS. In return they tried to make life difficult for him whenever they could. But he was a strong man, a type A who kept it all in and

911 is great!  It’s super speedy and shoots fire.  Thanks for asking.

Man, I hate it when Jalopnik forces me to read things I don’t like.

I can’t believe the people who killed that guy and tried to cover it up would just destroy property and lie about it like that..

These guys are barely trained as cops, you expect them to be tire jockeys too?

They are radicalizing an entire generation. Their shortsightedness really is astounding.

The optics on this shit are... not great.

The guys I knew who wanted to become cops were 100% unfit to do so (officially, as it turned out - one failed the Vermont State Police exam’s psychological fitness evaluation; the other was stopped for a DUI in his first month on the job by one of his fellow sheriffs, charged, & promptly fired).

A friend of mine on the force in San Francisco has come out publicly against the Buffalo PD’s riot squad’s behavior.

A friend of mine on the force in San Francisco has come out publicly against the Buffalo PD’s riot squad’s behavior.  Aside from that, not a peep from anyone.

This is always the argument they use to justify shooting every dog they see.

All I know is it would suck being a cop right now. Even the good ones are probably shaking their heads. It is Certainly Curious why so many are acting up with so much to lose......and cameras, phones, and surveillance literally EVERYWHERE.

Any police here want to push the limitations of the Blue Wall of Silence on this matter? My law enforcement friends (for the time being anyway) have been relatively silent regarding any criticism of fellow law enforcement. Some of them say how horrid the George Floyd murder was, but as far as the tactics following

“State Patrol troopers strategically deflated tires ... in order to stop behaviors such as vehicles driving dangerously and at high speeds in and around protesters and law enforcement,” he said.

After being reminded of this picture I will do the same this summer...

Love that movie.
