I fucking love the Magliozzis and Car Talk. While it was still being produced live, it was part of my Saturday ritual. Coffee? Check. Car Talk? Check. Maybe a donut or an old beater to wrench on? Check. I’d even go out of my way to catch it while road tripping on Saturdays (usually to look at some shitty car).

Car Talk is a Boston institution. Listening to them now is like stepping back 15 years for me, though it may as well be 30, cause it doesn’t seem to change at all. An 89 Honda Civic that dies over bumps. A TR7 that overheats on hills. These kind of cars and quirks don’t really exist anymore.

Does any other country in the world freely allow people to just walk across their borders and start taking advantage of government programs?

Look up the anti-commandeering doctrine. It’s a *part* of law enforcement and it says (generally) that the federal government can not force states or other localities to enforce federal laws. Here’s a good start:

Fuck you.

Honestly Americans can probably be granted refugee status due to the lack of good wagons in the USA

They are not choosing to not respect Federal law. They are very much trying to follow Federal law, which includes Federal agencies enforcing laws that fall under Federal control.

  • Undocumented immigrants pay more in to the gov’t than they take out.

Just because there are laws, doesn’t mean EVERY law enforcement agency has to enforce them. For example, the FBI doesn’t go around handing out speeding tickets. Local PD doesn’t investigate tax fraud. Parking enforcement doesn’t follow up on rape cases.

we support free speech*

Let’s leave the discussion of immigration aside for a moment and think rationally about this idea of “sanctuary transit” which is the matter at hand. The whole purpose of that policy is to make sure that undocumented immigrants feel safe enough to cooperate with law enforcement without fear of being deported. Studies

It is a long answer, but one aspect of not asking about immigration status is for people to report crimes. There is already a clear reduction in the number of reported domestic abuse cases due to the change in attitude on immigration with the Trump administration.

Undocumented immigrants aren’t eligible for most government programs. It’s also worth noting that they also pay a lot in state and local taxes, so they’re also not free-loaders in the system, and may even pay more into the system than they use, since they’re ineligible for many benefits.

Would you say the same if the president was a democrat trying to enforce a federal rule you disagree with? It’s funny how right wingers are all for “state rights” and “small government” until it goes against their narrative.

Illegal immigrants pay more money into government programs than they take out. They pay taxes yet are ineligible for most benefits.

You should probably look into what groups in the US receive the most federal/state/local aid. Hint: undocumented immigrants are at the bottom of that list. On average they pay far more in taxes than they receive in assistance.

This just stops BART employees. Nothing to say ICE could not board at any station and ask people or do checks. The BART staff won’t participate. Now if they could quit accidentally shooting people.

“SAD!” you mean

lol

Seriously, the reason things like this are usually difficult to prove is because no one’s dumb enough to put them in writing.
