Let me go on, like a fat turtle in the sun

Your call is important to us. We are currently experiencing an unusually high call volume...

Well, my American friends, best wishes for tomorrow from your upstairs neighbour. Good luck, best wishes, stay safe, keep calm, carry on, toodle pip, stiff upper lip, and all that rot. We’re pulling for you to snatch your country back from the short-fingered vulgarian and his drooling minions. Take care.

Love this one!

That sounds divine.

(raises hand meekly) me too !

Happy Halloween! Totally unrelated to Halloween, I have a huge life decision I’m facing in the next week. I’ve been offered a job in New Zealand! It’s a fixed two year position, and the border is still closed, but it falls under an essential work exception that would get me a visa much sooner than if waiting for

I voted by absentee ballot and dropped it off at Town Hall two weeks ago! Straight democratic ticket for me, but I'm from one of the bluest states. They were predicting 78% for Biden, which seems low.

I’m working at the polls, which should keep me distracted and unable to watch results trickle in. By time I get home at 9:00ish Mountain time, I’m hoping for promising news from the Eastern time zone (although I am not counting on anything being decided Tuesday).

Shelter Catstravaganza!

Duckling and I voted today. It was their first Presidential election, but not their first election. (They turned 18 two years ago.) Voted for Biden so hard I could feel it from the socially-distanced voting booth over. They also did some research on a lot of things, including the 2 state questions and whether or not

I need to stop refreshing 538.

Hooray for good things!

Moving to Panama on Election Day!

There was a good article about this in the NYT the other day in relation to substance misuse programs. For every “clean” urine sample, participants drew a card from a fish bowl that had either an encouraging saying or a small financial reward ($5-$100). It’s been very successful at least short term in achieving

Call a spade a spade. A significant portion of the American people are utterly stupid.

Further, there’s literally nothing you can do to appeal to the anti mask crowd. A colleague of mine attended a trump rally here in Wisconsin, and she posted a picture of her group at the rally (sans mask, of course). A friend of hers posted a quip along the lines of, “Nice masks,” that could have been waved off.

Sometimes I feel like a significant portion of the American people have Oppositional Defiant Disorder. No we don’t!

It’s a great thing to do, but we know what idiots who will disagree with him.
