Trust me, they are way worse. I used to tow for a living, recovery not repo. And the amount of these I had to change were unreal. The whole van has to be jacked on one side and then you reach way under the side and hope the tire releases. Bad in the summer, awful in the winter.

Oh, These damn things.I used to tow for a living and dreaded any time a call came in for changing one, especially in the winter. The only thing worse were the cable mounted ones on early 200's Ford pickups. They would rust at the mention of water.

Used to do recoveries for a company that predominantly dealt with CAA. I would say during the summer 5 out of 10 calls were to do with off road recoveries and shipping containers etc. In the winter that probably went up to 7 out of ten, LOTS of sleds, ice shacks and people driving their trucks on groomed sled trails.…
