I think he’s talking more of the possibility of the bullet missing the tire or going through the tire and ricocheting off the ground. I’m sure if there’s even a 1% chance of that happening, with the number of people who were around, that’s not a chance the NYPD wants to take. That’s a lawsuit and a half.

It was a master stroke by the DOJ/FBI to use this case to try to force Apple to produce a master key to break encryption on all iPhones. The defendants are hated and dead, and no Trump level thinker is going to think past “Aople supports terrorism!!”This is their best shot to defeat encryption once and for all.

From what I’ve read, DOJ wants a way to turn off the 10 tries max rule that bricks the phone. That way, they can then brute force the password and unlock the phone. That’s a tool that, if it got got in the wild, would make Apple password security completely useless. And Apple has no guarantee that one of the thousands
