Yeah, all the BMW 800’s (and probably the other mid-range twins) are Rotax. Aside from the issues I had with it, I really disliked that motor on a subjective level. I’ve ridden the big boxers, and they’re much nicer to deal with (though I’d still much rather have a Triumph triple or one of the newer Duc L-twins)

Mine, at least (a ~2012 F 800R) would stop running if it went below about a third of a tank. Turns out if the fuel pump got uncovered, it overheated and stopped working.

I’ve seen a few lately where the innocent victimized rider has to deal with someone yelling at them, but the context is that they were blasting through neighborhoods doing triple digits, or they’ve been brake checking and harassing the driver for the past 10 miles, or something else similarly douchey.

That’s because BMW motorcyclists are so thankful for the days when their bikes run that they can’t risk offending the motorcycle deities.

No, the same rules apply to Diesel engines. Power is defined as being torque times RPM (divided by a constant). More RPM at a constant torque will always equal more power. Power is also, however, the amount of work that can be done divided by the time it takes so, on a purely physical level, power is more analogous to

The engines that power big ships and such have massive torque but relatively little horsepower, because they turn at 40 rpm or some such. Generally speaking, power is how much torque you can apply how quickly. That’s why on dyno charts, torque generally peaks early then falls off, while HP builds as revs increase.

Well, Harley does make a few bikes that are, arguably, standards. The XG 500 and 750, and anything else they might have in that line.

Car drivers don’t get angry because it’s unsafe behavior. They get angry because “Hey! HEY! HE’S GETTING AHEAD OF ME! THAT’S CHEATING! NO FAIR!” because apparently traffic is a competition.

The speed limit here is 75, most traffic moves around 80.

What I don’t get is -how- someone could ride without a helmet.

AMA is kind of like the NRA of motorcycles. They’re usually too busy trying to repeal helmet laws.

As someone whose eye level is above the roof of the current Miata (yes, with the seats as low as they’d go), Any indication this one might be a little better on that front? Is there at least a way to lower the damn seats or something?

I’d have to disagree. For a while there, any time I opened the inventory screen there was about a 50% chance of the game crashing. Now, to be fair, some speculation was that it was an Nvidia driver issue, so maybe not CDPR’s bug.

Talk about a nut roaster...

There was definitely a while there when BMW’s motorcycle design language was “blobs”

It worked for Top Gear’s hilux

Fair point.

If Vidjamagames have tought me anything, it’s that speed wins on the ‘Ring.

So many long straights and gentle curves.

I was kind of hoping it was turbine powered, rather than what appears to be a leafblower-powered pulse jet.

It’s a leafblower
