@AcidSpoon: You're partly right. Evolution is the process describing random genetic changes being fixed in a population by natural selection. You are right that it does not describe the actual separation of species over time, that's the process of speciation.

@slaine17: Exactly. You'd think that every Droid in America is going to start a five minute countdown then explode the way people are responding to this. All it means is that Moto isn't making any new ones because they are focused on making the next phone in their lineup.

@strideo: As long as that's the only yellowish liquid the dog licks up off the floor, it's okay.

@Helis: The beauty of science is that today's discoverer of something truly phenomenal provides the shoulders for you to stand on tomorrow to make your own.

These people really only have any power as long as they are being reported on. Doing articles on them is just feeding the WBC troll.

@eblingmis: Because they have lots of rainbow coloured signs leftover from their extended and abominable hate campaign against gay people.

Colin Freeman, PhD: Answering less important questions than his older brother Gordon, but at least his work keeps him in this dimension.

Good grief. It's amazing what people will convince themselves of. Brian Dunning did a really good podcast on something like this, espisode #147 of Skeptoid:

@Monty: At first, the 360 came with just a 90 day warranty. Very early adopters who RRoDed after that time was up but before MS came up with the extended warranty plan did pay out of pocket for repairs. However, once MS did offer the extended warranty plan for RRoD issues, they made it retroactive for everyone and

I don't think this is limited to online friends at all, I think it will apply to any group of friends that you develop as the result of a specific hobby or interest.

Mr. Burns wants his larva back.

@desi214: It was a fashion designer who came up with the idea of using these cellulose sheets for making these clothes, not scientists. Cellulose sheets have all sorts of industrial applications. I can't imagine that growing cellulose sheets in vitro is more efficient than simply growing cotton in a field, so I don't

I haven't played this yet, so I'd totally go for a GOTY version with DLC included.

Wait a second. I don't own an iPhone. Now Consumer Reports is telling me I shouldn't own an iPhone. That means I agree with CR! I feel so dirty.

@InAction: Yet more proof, if any was needed, that Aussie ladies are amongst the hottest women on Earth.

@hunterlholder: I agree; there's nothing like punishing companies for success, is there? How dare they innovate and create jobs and wealth?

@hunterlholder: Oh, I didn't say it was a good reason to sue, just that's the only reason I can think of that people might think they have a case. I don't think they do, but I'm not a lawyer.

@talkingstove: I guess it could be argued that iPhone users were baited into Apple's ecosystem, spending money on apps and music, in the belief that they could stay in that ecosystem but switch carriers after two years. As it stands now, if you want to continue using your apps and music in the manner in which it was

@WB: Yes, if these antibodies were being used in everyone all the time as a prophylactic measure - that would provide selective pressure against the 91% of effected strains, allowing the 9% to survive and become dominant. Evolution would occur, strike one for the creationists.

Jesus, your iPad is fruity in oh so many ways.
