Haven't seen Parker's film, but I thought Affleck's performance was overrated, as was Manchester by the Sea. Not a bad performance, but overrated and IMNSHO the least worthy of the five nominees. Really don't get the love the film itself is getting in some quarters.
On top of everything, Affleck's performance was an extended brooding exercise inin a massivemassively overrated movie.
Don't agree with part of the premise here: "Fast Times at Ridgemont High", a much better teen film than any of Hughes's, predated "Sixteen Candles" by 2 years. Not a fan of Hughes's movies to begin with (short version: Cameron Crowe did it before him and at the same time and did it far better), but that's another…
