Welcome to the end game of infinite growth and capitalism

Tony Hawk is quickly moving up to ‘The best of us status’.  He was already high on my board of good people, this is just another reason :)

The Benihana is a skate trick created by Lester Kasai which he named after the restaurant chain.

It will indeed be tough to break the habit, but it will happen, and it’s awesome.

This is a great gesture towards an influence in the skating community, and I’m all here for it.

And my ax.

Instead of Weddle being directly honored for this achievement, however, the trick was given a nonsensical name

I always thought that part that you said about skating being a sport of the underdog, the poor, and not privileged was cool because of how it related to hip-hop. You can rap anywhere, you can do graffiti everywhere, you can generally dance anywhere, and for a cheap board and parts you can skate everywhere and the

This is Ian virtue signaling. And doing a shitty job at it. While reading, this paragraph struck me as not only out of place but also laregly out of touch. And pissed me off quite a bit. So before I tackle the issue, shame on you Ian... Rather than throwing out platitudes about a largely presumed privilege based on

I’d say it was about the same as anything else. Women haven’t been taken super seriously in skateboarding but it’s gotten better over time. I can’t think of any racial discrimination though it’s probably happened? I’m sure there are some but I can’t think of any queer skaters off the top of my head.

This is just good feels all around. Awareness is so important and now finally my dude can get the respect he deserves.

It did say he announced this on Instagram, which isn’t “here” exactly, but it’s still on the internet with a Like system?

I will say, the “As with many hobbies, the upper echelons of skateboarding have long been dominated by white dudes who have the privilege of rarely coming face-to-face with obstacles based on their identity.” Shows that you don’t know much about the Skate scene and Tony Hawks work to make it a more inclusive hobby.....

From some quick googling, it may have been named that because a different athlete’s dad saw Weddle do the trick and called it that because Weddle was quiet and reserved, but who the fuck knows where it really came from? I am with you, I thought it was a reference to guitars due to the huge overlap between rock/punk

As with many hobbies, the upper echelons of skateboarding have long been dominated by white dudes who have the privilege of rarely coming face-to-face with obstacles based on their identity.”

I figured it was like a guitar clamp because of what you’re doing with your hand.

Deaf Weddle”

just give it to me i’ll take it to him

Question - how do I give a star to Tony Hawk here without him replying to the article, this is beyond awesome!
