Well, I finally decided to look up a picture of Dante Gill, and uh... Why are they casting Scarlett?

Most of the articles are naming the director, since he’s the same fool who created Ghost in the Shell. I don’t recall his name, because it isn’t worth remembering. And, yes, it’s a great story-maybe cis folks shouldn’t be appropriating it from trans folks? Just a thought.

Start giving trans actors roles that aren’t as trans people, and then we can talk about cis actors getting gigs telling our stories. If you limit trans actors to trans roles, you don’t get to complain about your “artistic freedom” or whatever self-serving tripe you’ve invented to justify it. You’ll get fully-justified…

What casting director looked at Mr. Gill’s picture and thought “I think I’ll call ScarJo”, rather than “Get me Chaz Bono’s number right now!”?

I thought of Lea Delaria too, but good call on Andy Serkis.

I’d love to see a trans man play him, but if they have to cast a cis actor I’d at least like it to be a man or a butch woman. Off the top of my head I’d say Toby Jones, Andy Serkis or Lea DeLaria are all great actors and resemble him much more closely than ScarJo.

Wow, I can’t imagine how ScarJo is supposed to look like that, just in dimensions. Gill was a big person, wide-jawed, just broad. ScarJo isn’t. At the very, very least, I felt it was slightly saner to give her the Ghost in the Shell role because in theory Motoko Kusanagi can have whatever race of cyborg body she wants…

Haven’t you heard? ScarJo doesn’t care about the following: The West Bank occupation, Farrow Allen, white washing and trans people. That's a pretty big list.
