And I am not bringing out a bunch of kids from the greys, but I absolutely love the "misandrist" comments. You guys are satire of yourself.

What they’re going to do is make her “ugly” which will instantly win her an Oscar. Hollywood loves nothing more than a skinny white girl throwing on some facial prosthetics and a little bit of fat and calling it acting.
Because they don’t want to make Gill’s story. They want to make a film about a sexy lesbian who “managed to claim her power” by running brothels.
Honestly I think this all boils down to how seriously we’re taken. If you suggested that a white person play a black role, it would be hard to find someone okay with it. Yet, if you suggest a cis man don a dress and play a trans woman character, it would be pretty easy to find someone that basically says “I don’t see…
This is an incredible story
Most of the articles are naming the director, since he’s the same fool who created Ghost in the Shell. I don’t recall his name, because it isn’t worth remembering. And, yes, it’s a great story-maybe cis folks shouldn’t be appropriating it from trans folks? Just a thought.
Start giving trans actors roles that aren’t as trans people, and then we can talk about cis actors getting gigs telling our stories. If you limit trans actors to trans roles, you don’t get to complain about your “artistic freedom” or whatever self-serving tripe you’ve invented to justify it. You’ll get fully-justified…
Why do people always act like irritated leftists have the power to ban or prohibit things? We don’t. We can just say “this is fucked up, we’re not supporting it” and then not buy movie tickets.
I speaks volumes that those that knew him are saying this isn't the right casting and they also are reporting that nobody involved with the movie has ever spoken to them so who knows how truthful this will even be. Any way you slice it, it's time for this nonsense to stop.
Brendan Gleeson seems like the obvious choice
What casting director looked at Mr. Gill’s picture and thought “I think I’ll call ScarJo”, rather than “Get me Chaz Bono’s number right now!”?
I thought of Lea Delaria too, but good call on Andy Serkis.
I’d love to see a trans man play him, but if they have to cast a cis actor I’d at least like it to be a man or a butch woman. Off the top of my head I’d say Toby Jones, Andy Serkis or Lea DeLaria are all great actors and resemble him much more closely than ScarJo.
Agreed on all counts.
Wow, I can’t imagine how ScarJo is supposed to look like that, just in dimensions. Gill was a big person, wide-jawed, just broad. ScarJo isn’t. At the very, very least, I felt it was slightly saner to give her the Ghost in the Shell role because in theory Motoko Kusanagi can have whatever race of cyborg body she wants…
Haven’t you heard? ScarJo doesn’t care about the following: The West Bank occupation, Farrow Allen, white washing and trans people. That's a pretty big list.
Best response in this entire thread, imo.
