As a fat nerd, I tried the gym over and over, only to fail. Then I started cycling. I decided early on that I need to pick between fit-ish and thin, so I picked fit-ish.

I came here to say something very similar.

They are a testament to what public schools can produce if students have support at home and in well-funded schools.

This is unfortunately how much of this country works for far too many trans people. Even states that pride themselves in “protecting” trans people will leave us in the dark when we actually need them.

Smart move. If they want to HAVE a military, they’re already gonna have to stop being picky..... About 75% of Americans aged 17-24 are currently ineligible to serve. Obesity, asthma, & criminal records are what’s crippling your unit cohesion, Mad Dog, not trans people.

I am not against the military, but I have known people who came out when they were “protected” by the prior administration and were essentially setup to fail so that they could be kicked out for their “performance” along with a host of other bureaucratic games and not their gender. Perhaps I read the culture there

In 2002 a reporter asked Yankee pitcher Mike Mussina if he would accept a gay teammate. Mussina responded: “I’m going to make the assumption I already have.”

Just buy a $500 usb-c dock. Problem solved. /s

Since there still seems to be significant confusion as to what the policy actually requires, I’ll repost something here that I wrote up when the memo came out.

Actually, the estimates are something like 15,000 currently serving. Trans individuals are twice as likely to serve. They just haven’t been out.

Ayup. Probably as long as there has been an American military.

Haven’t trans folk already been in the military?

“ya’ll ain’t queer, are ya?” she asked as we plummeted towards the earth

Good point. Getting outed as trans in many places is still a swift kick out of your job.

Pedant alert.

I really like how they dotted their “i”s and crossed their “t”s with their reasoning on how LGBT discrimination is a subset of sex discrimination. That practically kills the “Ain’t no rule” argument of a strict legal reading of the Civil Rights Act and makes any appeal attempt that much harder to overturn.

Man, this administration is NOT having a good one with Judicial branch.

For me the issue is just that there are NO “USB-C Hubs” on the market. I only have what comes on the machine, and once I use both I’m screwed. I’m slowly converting... but I’m having to unplug and replug a LOT more now.

You’ve left out the most important ones:
