I felt like Odyssey reinvigorated the franchise personally. They’re nailing the combo of open world, rpg, loot drops, and still refining the sea combat. I’m digging it again after years of a lot of the same content.

I think the assumption is this will come out this year. Odyssey released in Oct, 2018, and they’re releasing bi-annually.
I don’t know, considering how well received Origins and Odyssey were, I’m sensing a good bit of snark.
I actually really disliked the AC series until I played Odyssey and Origins. I think them pivoting into a more RPG-type game brought me in in a way the first games never could for some reason.
I’m way behind on it (half way through 3) but from an outsider’s perspective I’ve seen quite a bit of love for Origins and Odyssey.
I do hope this game repeats Odyssey’s ability to choose genders. Kassandra was such a delight.
I’ve written on these sites several times about my wife, a nurse, and how the best things I’ve been able to do to support her has been to scour the community begging and pleading for whatever PPE people are willing to donate for her and her team to be safe. Do you know which individuals have, by a ridiculous margin,…
My hardest laugh of the episode was when they stopped running after they realized it was Stanley on the stretcher.
Kind of hard to nitpick the game being that 1) It’s a NEW XCOM game that was completely unexpected. and 2) It’s only $10 (even $20 seems pretty damn cheap!) Can’t wait to play it myself in another 7 hours and 25 minutes...
This turned into a bit of an essay. Apologies. Apparently I have Thoughts On Superhero Comics That Must Be Expressed.
“it’s certainly worth calling out China’s total lack of regard for intellectual property theft.” - If you make an honest living developing video games and this hurts you, sure, call out China. But if you made a career out of facilitating corporate deregulation and tax evasion, at least have the decency to blame…
You just hate to see it...
Write this article but from the perspective of how when playing as the British Empire and Commonwealth forces you’re nearly always in an entirely White army despite the Empire being predominantly made up of Asian and African peoples or how no campaign ending ever has “and by jove, who cares if Bengal starved and…
The entire leveling system is very, very Early Access-ish, with an emphasis in most places (but strangely not all) on super-punishing eurojank slowness. Smithing will shoot up a dozen levels early because it’s a button you can actually push, but soon after it becomes a horrifying slog. Stewardship becomes very easy to…
The cheesiness was part of the appeal for me. It traded in stock characters and catered to different sensibilities. But it was still effective at getting you to care about the characters. The ending with the girl singing Aloha? Heartbreaking. It did well juggling the comedic with the dramatic. It reminded me a lot of S…
The drama of Train was catered to the sensibilities of Korean cinema. Societies like different levels of melodrama. I agree that some of it was a little more turgid, and dealt with different worries than we have in the Western World
Thanks, I always feel like an asshole when I say this movie at some points felt like a really bad netflix original. But the ending was memorable.
I’m a little bewildered by the praise that Train to Busan has received. I’ve only seen it once, but I remember it having a killer concept with a cheesy and uneven execution. It was okay, but it wouldn't make my top ten zombie films.
I’m with you. II improved everything about I. III added as many frustrations as new concepts. But all three are firmly behind the later 3, which I guess is a good thing overall.
Civ2 last? Even behind Civ1 and Civ3?
