Yeah, I was confused and vaguely horrified for a bit.
Yeah, I was confused and vaguely horrified for a bit.
The clerk at the gas station told me about the shortage, complained about folks hoarding gas, then encouraged me to do the same in one breath.
You’re in NC? In Alamance, the lines are crazy. Some gas stations have put a max on how much fuel you can buy (in a place full of super ultra duty trucks). It makes me want to work on my peak oil preparation game.
Beyond a certain point (every day) it’s not a joke. When you deal with the public as one who is representative of an ENTIRE group of people, whether you want to be or not, it’s not a joke. At least, not a good one.
You made me spit my beer out. Not sure if laughing or wincing.
As a black wearer of locks for many years, I can tell you that the dirty hippie/clearly a drug dealer stereotype was applied to me seemingly overnight. Which is odd, since if we’re talking about locs on folk with black hair, you need to keep them clean and well kept for them to loc well.
For real, thanks. Has this become like a liability issue? Wouldn’t saying “allegedly raped” fix that?
Ha, when I saw the first pic, I was like, “Jesus!” And then I saw the guy’s face and it was actual Jesus.
Oh god, you’re more resilient than I am. It’s hard to deal w/ my friends who are amazing and also love obviously shitty men. “Well, I know you love him, and you’ve been married for 10 years, but you’ve also hated him for 11. Change the locks, let’s go out.”
Sprouted beans & grains! Tempeh! Delicious fungi and unfiltered beer (b-12)! I actively sought to be vegan when I was a teen, but I accidentally became one when I was (am still) broke and learned about processing the foods I was growing.
Oh my god, Serena Williams’s everything...*faints*
This is hilarious. What’s a piney?
*screams, runs far, far away*
So glad!
The point of the pay gap’s existence (and the protest against it) is that women make less in both fields. If I decided to be a k-12 teacher, which is a field primarily seen as female, I’d still make less than my male cohorts, regardless of experience or education. Similarly, in my own skilled, male-dominated, manual…
Is it weird that when I read your posts, it’s vin diesel’s voice in my head?
Honest question here, how come everyone hates on HamNo? He makes strong statements sometimes, but I really appreciate his articles on labor, economics and housing, at least as a launchpad into an issue or other sources around an issue.
A few days ago, a commenter posted a link to a MetaFilter thread about emotional labor. I am STILL engulfed in it, and it helped me understand some of my relationships make me so goddamn tired, and also why the double standards in partnerships like this^ are so toxic.
Holy crap, you're a genius!
You are just too witches for me.
