You could use the CCFL’s. Generally CCFL’s are a small tube at the top and bottom of the screen, maybe one in the middle depending on the size. The light won’t be as uniform and the power draw will be a lot higher.

I think they are sold out everywhere. The only place you can get them is on The MagPi #40 issue. They are scattered around Europe, and I heard they should be available on the MagPi in the states in a few weeks at Barns and Noble.
