Combining aspects of two or more works into a new original work is basically the standard for creating new art, particularly in the game industry. If you're saying this game is like a mash-up of Mark of the Ninja and Gunpoint, then I say that sounds like a cool new game, not a rip-off of either one.

Yes, if a military shooter copies the exact look and gameplay of Call of Duty that it's a freaking rip-off

By your logic every military shooter is just a rip-off of Call of Duty. And every racing game is a rip-off of Ridge Racer. And every platformer is a ripoff of Mario.

Your screenshots don't illustrate game mechanics. Your comparison is like comparing a Pinto to a Camaro because they're both blue and have 4 wheels.

Whatever, then you get 5 hearts and you're done for 2.5 hours. Same difference. It's still telling me when I can play my game. The timeframe is irrelevant.

Here's your problem. You're one of those 'right way to play' gamers

Yeah, but there's still a hard limit on play unless you pay for extra turns. You get 5 battles a day, and you're done unless you want to pay up. I don't like being told when I can play my games. I'd have actually paid $15 for the game if they'd let me, but as it is I'm not going to let them milk me for money 5

Because perhaps you have the capability for enough nuanced understanding to not have to personally relate to or endorse any fictional experience that you take part in?

Because it's not a fucking character study simulation. It's an arcade shooter.

That's impressive. Once. Then you have to watch that animation over and over and over again.

But lo and behold, the entire first handful of paragraphs are nothing but subjective opinionated politics. Exactly the kinds of things that do not belong in our Ethical video game reviews.

Come on, what? It's not a fantasy I want to have anything to do with. Why is that so strange?

wouldn't it be more logical to assume the new hardware would be a successor to the 3DS? That one's been out for a long time and it's mostly run it's course.

When did you play this game?

And as we all know any given genre is only capable of sustaining a single title.

Honestly, both of them are surprisingly accurate to the source material.

Fuck the BBB. They're an extortion racket. Only those who buy in get A's.

As someone else pointed out, though, Shawshank and Stand By Me were novellas as well.

That's a good point. And no, they were King books, not Bachman. They were both collected in Different Seasons (along with Apt Pupil—also a movie—and one other I can't think of off the top of my head). Stand By Me was originally called "The Body," though.

The Mist was collected with short stories, but was long enough, I think, to count as a novella.
