People have been saying that about the Rift for 3 years, and I've yet to see any consumer version.

No, I'm still saying that what we're seeing is not what will be released. We'll likely never actually get what we saw in today's demo. We may get something, but it won't be what they showed off today.
How would you know? You've likely never experienced one.
"Mayor Walsh is not looking to limit the free speech of his employees and, as residents of Boston, he fully supports them participating in the community process. This was standard boilerplate language for the Joinder Agreement with the USOC that all applicant cities have historically signed. The Mayor looks forward to…
Fine, replace Illumiroom with Kinect: released as a neutered, watered down, less functional version of what was initially demoed, and still has yet to catch up to its promises.
So wait, they're going to remake a bunch of the movies Joel and the bots used to riff on, but put them all in a shared universe, Marvel-style?
I agree, but it's never a bad idea to give players options. I've always wanted the ability to turn some items on or off like you can do in Smash Bros.
Especially considering Towlie's voice is just a stoned version of Mr. Hanky.
Launching with Minecraft is not the same as launching with all the functionality that was demoed today.
I don't understand your comment.
at first being introduced as devices to enhance standard television viewing, then paired with mobile technologies, and finally serving content delivered by the new Xbox itself.
Because the same could be said for the Kinect before release, and it launched as a neutered, clunky version of what was advertised. I fully expect the same from this. If they manage to hit store shelves in the next few years it won't be in the form that we just saw.
No, because this appears to use exactly none of the tech from Illumiroom. It's an entirely different concept.
That's a very good question. Probably the same bin all cool ideas that aren't cost effective go into.
The press had their hands on a Rift 3 years ago, but there's still no word on a retail version. It will be years before anything close to what they're showing here is a retail product, and even then I don't believe it will work as well as it's advertised.
This will still never hit store shelves in the form we see here. If you need another example of an actual retail product you need look no further than Kinect for an overhyped piece of hardware full of broken promises.
Cool, we can both play with my Illumiroom.....oh, no, wait.
When this comes out...
This is a perfect example of why I hate twitter. It took 14 individual tweets to say something worthwhile.
There is not a chance in hell.
