I’m reminded of FDR, who contracted polio (or Guillain-Barre, possibly) before he ran for president. He and the media had a “gentleman’s agreement” that they wouldn’t photograph him in his wheelchair or braces, although it was mentioned in some coverage or stated that FDR had even recovered from his polio.
