Years ago I accidentally left an Airsoft battery plugged into a charger and it overcharged and exploded. I wasn’t there when it went kablamo but I found a crater in the carpets and bits of battery all over.

That sounds dangerously like an attempt to introduce common sense.

I figured it needed bumpers. I’d love to see Torch’s take on a Speedtail: Bumpers Edition

A lot of hype in this article for good reason, but...

You can mould it into any sort of shape you like, but after it was stuck in that shape, bound in plastic resin, it was stuck in that shape. That’s the whole point of carbon fiber. It’s crazy strong, and it shatters when it’s smashed.

They’re playing with some of the wheel spats tech they developed for Formula 1 in the late 2000s. It was an interesting experiment it helped cool the brakes and added aerodynamic efficency. I’m really not sure why they were banned.

This...Want to reduce concussions in football, take away the pads, want to reduce stupid driving, take away the airbag/seatbelt everything. I’m not suggesting that we reduce the safety requirements, just saying that when your ass is on the line without any safety equipment like say my old 78 fj-40, you pay more

The problem is that in reality, it’s like we’re playing hockey without helmets and with a stern lecture about what’s acceptable before hitting the ice.

Supposed to.

Yeah, so NOW how many of you want to move Canada?!?

That’s right, thought so....

Bicycles are also mid-engined

That, and the only things between you and the front bumper are the firewall and questionably-mounted fuel tank and radiator.

“We got it up to 40, and personally I didn’t have the balls to take it any higher.”

Just renewed our company vehicle policies, broker was saying that commercial rates are pretty much up 8-15% all over the place due to this.

I wonder too how this will affect the “obsolescence” of modern cars. In 10 years time if those sensors aren’t available because they just aren’t made anymore, can the cars cope? I realize you can turn many of the systems off, but as they are becoming more and more standard, I wonder if the car would take major issues

It’s interesting. When I was a kid, TV repair shops were a thing. Your TV would die, and dad would lug the monster into a shop full of broken TVs. The guy would tell you it would take a week or two to fix and you had to get by on the ancient black and white from the attic until he was done.

Sounds more like there will be a gulf between older, cheap to repair cars and brand new vehicles. The depreciated ones in between will be totaled at obscene rates compared to existing expectations.

We should all just ride motorcycles.

To me, all this means is shorter vehicle lifetimes and the increased view of a car being “disposable”. Combined with easy financing, new-ish cars will make up an increasing percentage on our roads.

Finally, a car that can measure up to the amazing Dodge Grand Caravan Sport. So sporty.
