Seems more than clear that they intentionally entered the car in a class it was not eligible to compete in, for the sole purpose of being disqualified, in order to generate outrage among electric vehicle fans who know and care nothing about racing or rules.
GTA Unlimited class allows “any fuel”.
Unlimited Class allows any fuel. There is no prohibition of electric vehicles from GTA. There is a prohibition of electric vehicles from Enthusiast Class. The car was entered in the wrong class. The driver would have finished DFL in Unlimited AWD, which was the class the vehicle would be legal in.
Each competitor is solely responsible for classing their car correctly and making sure that all modifications done to the car are legal for the class they are competing in.
It’s worse than that. Go to the specific rules for the class he entered and competed in: “Enthusiast Class”. That class specifically requires either unleaded gasoline or diesel as the only permitted fuel.
“Electricity is not an approved fuel in the Enthusiast Class” would be most accurate.
