Most cringeworthy is how in the season 2 finale, Eko is able to scale up through the hatch door on a rope, then make his way all the way to the beach, then all the way to the dynamite, then all the way to the blastdoor - and still have time to be unconscious for a few minutes. ALL in 108 minutes.

I'd actually argue that Maternity Leave is easily the worst episode of season 2.

Yeah, I feel like Locke, Jack, Hurley and Sawyer are the only characters with particularly compelling reactions to the hatch. Everyone else is just… indifferent to it. So meep. Lazy storytelling.

I should've specified. She didn't return in seasons 2 or 3, which she was supposed to.

The downside to casting important people as glorified extras - is they can radically change the backstory of a character if they decide not to come back. AKA whats-her-face who played Jack's mom in S1 Ep 5, who never had the time to return - even though apparently she was supposed to play a bigger part in Jack's

Not to mention, it doesn't add anything new to the lore itself of the Dharma, the hatch or even the history of the island. Which is sad,

Sayid's lack of PTSD of any sort is incredibly unbelievable.

Charlie definitely goes in the hatch a few times. I recall him and Hurley listening to music, and then Sayid coming in and saying "This music is very depressing" - but no idea when in the season it is. Also, he's in the hatch in the season 2 finale.

SHE HAD TWO DISPOSABLE SCENES. GAWSH, GET IT RIGHT.

Given the very very little his addition adds to the film itself, that is one of the payoffs which IN HINDSIGHT just seems really pointless.

Sayid's reaction can arguably work, although I would have LIKED to have seen some sort of PTSD-esque reaction to the station at some point. I mean come on, it's built to with hold a siege, full of weapons, etc. - does it really not remind of him of the war at ALL?

Who wouldn't be though? The hatch is fucking TERRIFYING AS SHIT.

Jacob isn't even REFERENCED until season 3…

Yeah I still absolutely love the first three seasons, and can still *SOMEWHAT* enjoy seasons 4/5 - even despite my hate for season 6.

To be fair, I can't even watch anything from season 6 without getting mad at the writers.

Not only that, but what does it matter?

I like elements of the episode, don't get me wrong. I just disagree with it's placement in the season. Everyone "adjusted" to the hatch way too quickly, the characters asked way too few questions, etc.

Why is he pissed? It's not like he has to wait a year to watch the first ep of season 2…

Goodwin claims that they were after "the good ones", but that doesn't make any fucking sense.

Agree with all of this.
