I always got the impression from stories I had heard and read that Lucas was surrounded by too many “yes” men during the prequels and not many had the guts to differ in opinion or criticize ideas when it came to story or filming.

I loved how non-ironic or post-modern it was. Straightforward adventure, characters that were SO likable, jokes that were jokes and not sarcasm, and an adventure story that kept me invested. I am reeeaaaally tempted to go see it again today.
