Gold is a pretty and a not, comparatively speaking, very useful metal with a ridiculously over-inflated value considering its relative commonality compared to other, far more useful metals (ytterbium for example). Fossils, on the other hand, can be priceless, in terms of the amount of knowledge we gain from them.
