How would you put the armchair warriors in their place?
How would you put the armchair warriors in their place?
Yeah, I’m saying that there is a probability of greater violence occurring.
No, but they could kill me, my family, or my friends. I’m less concerned with the outcome than I am the events.
I dunno, that seems like a matter of perception. ;)
That’s a good point.
I agree to an extent. I often bring a similar point up whenever 2nd Amendment supporters say they need guns in case the government becomes tyrannical. I’m just less concerned over which side would win and why and more concerned with myself or a loved one being a civilian casualty.
I agree. I just see a lot of progressives clinging to this idea that the electoral college may reject Trump and I want to make sure everyone is aware of the law of unintended consequences.
My point is that we’ll have a lot more acts of terrorism than we do now, and they will feel exponentially more justified, and have exponentially more support in their attacks.
No, I don’t think we’d see a full on civil war, but I think we’d see smaller acts of terrorism. For instance; we would start to see more physical attacks against government institutions, like with the Bundy invasion or the Oklahoma City Bombing, and more things like IED attacks and roadside bombings.
Just to be clear; you would save our democracy by abandoning its principles?
1. What do you mean by “making yourself small won’t save you from them?”
Do you have any evidence that they voted to “tear the whole system down?”
1. It doesn’t matter if they’re idiots, they can still fuck up my day. Someone’s participation in the world isn’t tied to their intelligence. Trump is President-elect and I think we can both agree he’s a complete moron.
My point is that there would be severe fallout, unlike anything in modern American history. I’m not really a “let the chips fall where they may,” kind of guy, but it’s a difference of perspective.
Ok, but just because that’s true doesn’t mean millions of people who ardently support Trump will see it that way. They’ll see it as liberals usurping power by using a broken system. Perception unfortunately matters more than fact in America.
How so?
Please stop using the expression “Cheetolini.” I’m an Italian-American whose last name ends in “tolini,” Trump isn’t one of us and this kind of unnecessary association is frustrating.
If this happens I expect we’d see a lot of retaliatory violence from Trump supporters who believe the government has become tyrannical and is refusing the will of the people. I think if the electoral college rejects Trump then they open pandora’s box.
Wow, that’s some real mental gymnastics just to avoid admitting that you didn’t read the article but rushed to the comment section to virtue signal.
Yeah, that’s rushing to an assumption.
