Not true. Japan is the 3rd largest movie market in the world. It was the 2nd until very recently when China finally surpassed Japan. It’s very important that movies do well here in Japan. The tickets on average cost more. The movies have much longer lasting power. And DVD sales are a still relatively strong in Japan.
