I'd rather point out that literally 99 percent of gun owners never shoot anyone for any reason or brandish their weapons unnecessarily. This is a mental health issue, not a gun issue.

Liking guns is not a mental illness. Unless you would also ban fireworks, that's not a valid argument. 

That also happens all the time in countries where private ownership is banned, but you wouldn’t know that because you don’t check the news in Japan or Poland(neither do I, honestly, just names out of a hat). Dangerous people and mishandling guns aren’t uniquely American things.
