Her mother is reportedly of British and Spanish descent, and Anya herself has Argentine as well as British and American citizenship. She was speaking mostly Spanish when the family relocated to London when she was six and she refused to speak English for close to two years, thinking (in typical childhood logic) that

The Queen’s Gambit really only feints in the direction of being an addiction drama.

It was fine for a quick read while I was traveling, but, yeah, it didn’t change my life or anything. It’s an admirable bit of outsider art from a certain perspective, but you didn’t really miss anything. Admittedly, I have a high tolerance for shitty protags; shoutout to everyone else who unironically thought they

i’m not one to complain about movie length in general, but i was expecting a much shorter film from the premise.

Millennial here. I don’t know the answer to everything but thanks for shitting on MY generation, slacker.

Is this because GenX won’t take a side in the skinny jean/side part war?

Stick to Audio-Visuals!”

“For us, it’s not new news, so it’s kind of funny everybody right now is freaking out over it. We’re like, ‘Yeah we’ve been engaged for a while.’”

Die mad about it.

I’m just impressed that he was pro-death penalty up until that point but then admitted changing his mind since then when presented with other facts that he wasn’t comfortable with. I have never understood why in politics changing your mind when presented with new information has been so unseemly or a sign of weakness.

Does that mean I’m a racist and I don’t know I’m a racist?

But he is Jewish. So he may not know what its like to a person of color, he damn sure know what racism and bigotry means.

I cannot expect a white man to ‘know’ what’s it’s like to be a Black person or person of color, just as he shouldn’t expect me to know what it’s like to live a do-as-you-want consequence-free life of white privilege. All that I can ask of anyone regardless of the color of their skin, religious choices, education level

Why don’t we just have headlights/taillights on anytime the engine’s on. I’m ok with a switch to disable (drive in movies, etc), but the “default” state should be “motor on = lights on”. No longer need DRL’s or automatic light sensors for that.

Only justification I’ve seen for having headlights “off” by default is to

Headlights on all the time makes it harder to see emergency vehicles and motorcycles

Most cars with digital volume controls also have them on the steering wheel these days right? I would be more annoyed by digital climate control if there wasn’t a thermostat. But with a “set it on the screen to 68 and don’t touch it again for a year” is tolerable with me.

My key never leaves my pocket so losing or forgetting it is impossible.

Every single keyless car I’ve owned will honk if you leave with the key while the car is running. I’m fairly certain it’s a federal mandate.

The commercials showing the driver assistance tech show it saving people doing crap you really shouldn’t do behind the wheel. “ The new [insert-brand-here] will look out for you”, while the driver is turned 180 degrees away from the windshield or staring directly at their phone.

It’s not so much that the features that annoy me it’s that they are being marketed with commercials full of inattentive people being bailed out by the nannies.
