So no one else remembers the suicide-prevention nets installed under the windows at iphone factories?

“drunk Australian racist” is a redundancy.

Yeah, I fail to see how this is any more demeaning than having to contend with the synergistic clusterfuck that most music festivals and large venues have now become. At least in these shows there’s only *one* corporate overlord you have to avoid offending.

She’s not left wing. Nothing in her personal life or work suggests she values left wing progressive reform. She’s moderately socially liberal. You know, except for anything to do with gender theory that doesn’t directly benefit or protect her.

Wait, so the songs here are by The Greatest Showman people? I’m going to pass on this thing based on that information alone. “Broadway-by-way-of-Christian-rock” is a spot-on assessment of their work, and it’s horrifying.

Well, pretending that the current system *is* a democracy is probably doing a pretty significant amount of damage to the US’s intended democratic principles too.

That’s one of the worst elements of the show - the attempted aesthetic poignancy that just comes out as overwrought.

Oh wow, an anthology would have made so much sense! Maybe weaving secondary characters in and out, with little clues of where protagonists ended up since we stopped “following” them. Hell, they could have gone the infinity train route and added so much depth. Agh, now I’m agry this wasn’t what was made.

The writing suffered because its plotting fell into the trap of open-ended TV narrative construction, rather than a deliberate, planned out story with a beginning, middle and (crucially) end.

I’ll concede the origins. Mind you, that stuff was all over the place in white middle class Brooklyn bars/cafes/restaurants during the late 2000s/early 2010s too.

1: Huh, who would’ve guessed that a soundtrack by the milquetoastiest of the *clap* “hey-ho” bands from the 2000s Brooklyn pseudo-folk wave would kind of suck.

I don’t think you’re victim blaming LW1 at all, because I don’t see her as having been wronged here.

Right? Just to be clear here though, I’m totally on Metheny’s side. Fuck G.

Metheny is not only a super legit jazz innovator with a serious resume (he was an early Jacco Pastorius collaborator for one thing), but is consistently thoughtful and gracious in his discussions on musicianship and composition in general.

Is it really disputable at this point that millions of people could be stupid?

Yeah but they took all the footage of her years ago, so she didn’t know she was in this and isn’t getting paid for it. (JK sorta, they could totally pull this bullshit)

Regardless of the details, or even the truth, this sounds like a terrible situation. Those poor kids.

Aw man, sorry, haha. No reason not to have hope though! Lotta good people involved.

I’m rooting for him too, but I disagree on this being inherently his thing. His (best) stuff is way more melancholy than the anarchic subversive pleasure the Addams Family has always been about in its many iterations. They share a macabre gothic sensibility for sure, but beyond that it’s a different vibe.

This looks like “House of Cosbys”, but somehow lower budget.
