Reminds me of the time a coworker was looking at new cars, and started thinking about a truck, with the reasoning that he could use it to save money when he moved. I pointed out that even if he moves once a year (pretty high), he’s still spending way more than he was saving.

Right (and there’s a reason I put flamethrowers in quotes, because they really weren’t actual flamethrowers, just gussied up torches), but the question wasn’t about the quality, it was in response to someone questioning whether it was actually even a “real product for sale.” It’s absolutely a promotional stunt, and

I mean, he went to the trouble of actually making and selling those ‘flamethrowers’, it’s not like commissioning some expensive shorts with a logo on them is really that much of a stretch for him.

All except Trump - I want him around to face his looming electoral defeat, because it will just be such a massive blow to his ego to be repudiated on that scale. That and I worry that if Trump were somehow gone, the backlash would lose too much steam, and it’s very important that not just Trump, but Trumpism, be

To be a Washington fan has been to know shame on many levels, for sometime - at the racist name, the terrible play, and the godsawful owner, just to mention a few.

This isn’t ‘Nam, there are rules here!

I mean at this rate Florida will be underwater in a century or two due to rising sea levels, so...

It’s quite the competition really. Hard to keep track these days.

It’s almost as if every single thing he accused Obama of, he’s guilty of himself. Like, we’re talking seriously world-class levels of projection here.  Makes me wonder if Trump himself wasn’t somehow secretly born in Kenya.

That and maybe dedicated servers and proper client/server architecture rather than the adhoc garbage they have now. Would help deal with the rampant cheating as well as so many of the other issues that caused my friends and I to stop playing this game.

No joke, the thing I wanted to buy most in the game was an unlisted f’ing cellphone so people would quit spam-calling me.

Couple of things - one, the overall community is terrible, and seems overrun with 12 year olds (emotionally or otherwise). Cheating is rampant, though for the most part I found that was less an issue to avoid. The biggest drawbacks that I saw is that so much of the game expects you to play with others, both in terms

One of the problems with “hire the best person for the job” is that quite often in many fields, it’s not that there’s any unwillingness to hire minorities/women/etc, it’s that the opportunities to get the experience to even qualify for the interview in the first place are lacking. You can’t just go from being nobody

Hear me out - Maybe, just maybe, if you have multiple people telling you that you’re incorrect, then maybe - again, just maybe...

I’m not sure if you’re remembering differently, but it is a very specific reference.

I won’t disagree with that, but as others have stated, that was never what Embrace/Extend/Extinguish has meant. It was always a description of Microsoft moving in to dominate a sector, like the way they muscled out Netscape (for example).

Because of ridiculous traffic and overinflated housing prices, though, not because it’s southern/redneck/racist/whatever.

I actually like Dulles Airport for the most part. It’ll be even better once they finally finish the Metrorail extension to it (which should be soon? If it hasn’t opened already). Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta though, I’d be willing to start a March to the Sea from.

Ironically, Northern Virginia today is the least southern part of the entire state. It’s pretty much a giant suburb of Washington DC, and pretty solidly blue. NoVA along with the Richmond and Norfolk/Hampton Roads areas are essentially the reason that Virginia is Purple trending Blue (or arguably outright Blue) now.

What I’d be interested to see is something of a greater societal reckoning with what the norms of acceptable public behavior should be, both for ‘celebrities’ as well as for average people. Part of the issue, I think, is that the public sphere is so much greater than it used to be. Maybe instead of your small town
