Yes, I actually mentioned Ubuntu having torrent links on their own site. I will not dispute the fact that you can use torrents legally. My argument is that the average joe visiting KAT is not there to download Ubuntu but to download Game of Throne episodes.

I still stand by my idea that if you pirated anything and then bought anything else that wasn’t a basic necessity and was just a comfort, it was a lost sale. Your examples are the exceptions, not the rule. Hardly anybody who has way to consume digital content also does not have the money to buy said content. Unless

Suggesting nothing at all. Just stated what I stated. If I was trying to suggest anything else, I would have typed it.

Lol, doesn’t have to do with morals. Publishers do are not obligated to do a damn thing to have you buy their products. You either buy them or don’t buy them. You do, however, have an obligation by law not to pirate their products despite you not liking how they are served to you. “It has nothing to do with morals.”

Whatever makes you sleep at night criminal.

Since when was the argument that piracy was hurting the industry ever in question? This was always about the OP’s post being a silly poke at torrent use not really being illegal. I never made the argument that piracy was hurting the industry, you just thought I did for some odd reason. Are you trying to find a winning

If they were never willing to buy it then that means they didn’t want it and they would have never downloaded it for free in the first place. Yet they went through the trouble and risk of downloading it, so that means they wanted it and that is a lost sale. Sure you can argue that people don’t have enough money but if

Because you are a special snowflake and not the average torrent user. Also I doubt you used KAT to download Ubuntu and just used the links on Ubuntu’s website like I do. His point was nothing like that. If he wanted to point out that you can use torrent for legal means then he should have stated that. Nope. His point

Take one criminal down and another one will take its place. This has always been the way since Cain.

Ahoy matey!

It is the same effect. I know people who just buy books to collect them. They never read them. Still sales lost. Also the reason if it wasn’t free there would never have been a sale in the first place doesn't work. If that was true then they would have never downloaded the book for free in the first place either. If

They said use, not just visit. Now do you really not know what is illegal about using torrent sites or are you just being silly? I’m gonna put my money on silly.

I love your type of argument. Morals have no place when it comes to the consumption of entertainment and you have no problem with that at all. As long as you can reason companies are the problem themselves, you sleep just fine at night. At least you are upfront about it and honest.

That is sound advice as well.

No I meant trumpeted. Kinja isn’t letting me copy and paste the definition but it means to “proclaim widely or loudly”.

I like how you didn’t take anybody’s word and searched the thing yourself.

Aww, look at you. You have opinions, and you are expressing them like a big person. Next we will get you on the potty.

Don’t you remember? They published that one article that trumpeted all the good they have done, so it is okay when they do the bad things from time to time.

Yeah I know that. Hence the search warrant thing. I really do not think there is much protection for the dead guy for his privacy once a warrant is issued.

I was wondering who would say “arrested =/= guilty” first. You win the solid gold cupie doll.
