The “party of Lincoln” line is particularly funny this cycle, since several Republican candidates are calling for the repeal of the 14th amendment.

CA Governor Jerry Brown was also trying to reach out to those that disagree with him (and smack them for their willful ignorance):

If someone lies so as to have sex with you, and you would not have consented to sex without the lie, then it is rape. Full stop. Consent is dependent on all partners agreeing to sex of their own free will. By lying, the perpetrator in this case removed the victim’s ability to consent to sex. This is for each and every

I think your argument is actually offensive to trans* individuals. ANY person should ONLY engage in intercourse with a person who WANTS to engage in intercourse with them. Anything else violates consent. I don’t think it’s good to equate TRICKING someone into having sex with you with being transphobic. It doesn’t do

Because she didn’t actually consent to have sex with *this* person. Just like it would be rape if she consented to have sex with Twin A and Twin B somehow tricked her into sex. It’s not about gender identity, it’s about who she was consenting to sex with.

Wtf? She consented to having sex with a man, and was deceived into having sex with a completely different woman. Here’s a tip: if you have to lie to someone to have sex with them, because they wouldn’t have consented otherwise, it’s rape.

She did not consent to having sex with this woman. She consented to having sex with a totally different person (who turned out not to be real). This flies in the face of every aspect of knowing and enthusiastic consent.

I know the initial reaction is to think, “Good, he deserved it,” but, man. Once reality kicks in, I hope she escaped and got to a safe place far, far away. If not, I hope she’s not alive any more because no one deserves to suffer as much as she already suffered at their hands before this and I don’t want to even

I don’t even get how he was killed. He was a uniformed officer with a gun on his hip (and likely had a long gun of some type in the car). Doesn’t having your own gun stop gun violence? Did he just not have enough guns in this case? Please help me with this, NRA.
