That was ‘66, Darth. Clearly Kinsey’s attending some new fangled Joel-Osteen sorta thing nowadays.

Damn, I really had high hopes for this, though usually Ignatiy grades harsher than most. I’m still excited, just based on performances alone. Has anyone else seen it? Do your thoughts line up with Ignatiy’s?
It’s all changing on me, what happened to my AV Club, no pluses, only perfect A’s, only... perfection...
I’m quite excited for this, as I’ve always had a soft spot for these types of dystopian futures. Hopefully it lives up to the hype.
The short story makes Arrival look like a kids movie in terms of complexity (that seems demeaning to kids movies, but you get what I’m saying). It’s way more complex than Arrival because it uses what I assume was accurate linguistics terminology. It’s also less narrative-focused than Arrival - whereas Arrival has a…
Why do we kick this guy when he’s down?
But why!
Some of the reviews (I think all of them, really) have noted how the climax of this movie is seriously weird and everyone is going to be losing their mind, which at least gets me excited for the idea of actual changes/reboots. I mean, like a reboot, in the future, that isn’t like two years from now...
Now I kinda want to see it, mostly because I’ve been on this train for close to ten years, and I at least want to see the first part of the train reach its conclusion...
As long as there’s a scene involving MAO MAO.
I like David Simon, and I’m always interested in what he has cooking up. I haven’t finished the Wire because I’m in school and don’t have time to watch it. Shame. How’s the Deuce? Or even Treme?
I went through a lot in the past few months, and found myself inside Will Toledo’s head with Twin Fantasy (Face to Face), the reworked version of the original 2011 album Twin Fantasy.
Did not expect this. Really loved the Arrival score. Man.
is “recognitions” a reference to William Gaddis?
I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one who thought this. It’s still a nice cover. And I never did end up reading the mammoth tome, because I never had any time! Damn it, Vollman, write shorter books.
It’s alright. I think it was intriguing, but the problem is that this is the sort of thing that should have been in the movie more! Confronting the weird aspects of Star Wars is a really interesting thing.
See, this is the thing. My idea of subversion would have been (and Johnson does this), Luke and Rey confronting the failings of the Jedi. My idea of subversion would have been the narrative destroying the cyclic paradigm that Star Wars had gotten itself into (the rise and fall of the Republic, the rise and fall of the…
I loved his arc, and personally one of the biggest problems of the movie was that I didn’t see more of him and Rey.
I have some larger comments I’d like to address, but this one was one I wanted to respond to.
CAPTAIN KIRK WAS IMPORTANT AND HIS FIVE MINUTES ARE THEIR OWN LOGICALLY CONSISTENT STORYLINE
