People are always comparing Trump to Hitler. But, c’mon, at least Hitler actually wrote his own book.
He also made this terrifying statement: “We’re going to hold the press accountable.” That’s the direct opposite of how things work in a free nation, asshole.
Knowledge is power. It’s the reason that slaves were forbidden to read. Truly scary time we have entered.
Betsy Devos stated during her hearing that the rights of disabled children to a free and appropriate education should be up to the states.
Here’s a great article explaining why she and her husband are so involved in education: http://m.motherjones.com/politics/2017/01/betsy-devos-christian-schools-vouchers-charter-education-secretary
I don’t think it’s public education that they’re taking aim at, but widespread education. I think they rightly see that properly educating members of the working classes is the biggest threat to the current form of conservatism, which is essentially looking to establish an authoritarian, feudal state led by rich…
She needs future generations to grow up brainwashed enough to allow her and people like her to maintain wealth and power. Being genuinely educated means you will probably believe in climate change, women’s access to birth control, vaccinations, and limits to corporate power (ie the godless, evil liberal agenda).…
I literally don’t understand how/why she got into education. She has tons of money and could have started ANYWHERE making that type of money work. Did she just wake up one day and say, “hm I think I’ll divert public money to for-profit education”??
There’s this idea in Pence and Bannon circles that public education=liberal education. And they perceive education as the biggest threat to neo/alt conservatism’s future. They want to smash it to little bits. DaVos and Trump’s alt choice, Michlle Rhee are outspoken proponents of this smash. DaVos gave the most money,…
I thought Radiant Dawn was good but not as great as Path of Radiance. Was rather letdown by the support and conversation system where dialogues wasn’t unique. Still a fantastic game though and I would kill for a new switch Fire Emblem.
Literally looked like your average anime girl crying.
I absolutely hate the new OT rules in the NHL. Call me a purist, but games should not be won and lost in a god damn skills competition. Don’t even get me going on shootouts... Play a 10 minute OT period (4 on 4 if they absolutely have to do something gimmicky), and make it sudden death. No goal? TIE. Thats right, I…
Right. If a disabled person got on the train and asked for the seat and he refused to give it up, that would be something. But it’s not a problem to sit in one of those seats if there’s no disabled or elderly (or heavily pregnant, etc.) passengers who need them.
You make excellent points, and I respect your viewpoint.
Yeah, I think it’s like a handicapped-accessible restroom, anyone’s free to use it until it’s needed by someone with a disability. Now if someone had come on the train and he’d refused to move...
If there are no other seats on the bus, I will sit in the front side-facing seats. But I get up if there’s a disabled person getting on or a non-disabled seat comes available.
As much as I dislike this effete grumble-fucker... unless there was a disabled passenger on the train... what’s the problem here?
You cannot serve on a death penalty jury if you are anti-capital punishment. Which in my view stacks the case against the defendant right from the start. Not to mention that many people’s arguments against the death penalty center on the fallibility of the system and a fear of wrongful conviction; removing all those…
“Works” is a tricky thing. It’s fucking lucrative, that’s for sure. But so is The Big Bang Theory.
