It beginnnsss!

Bay isn't an idiot; he's really just a consummate sellout. Give the idiots what they want, and if the military wants to chip in and give him even more resources to shill for them so be it. I honestly don't think his 'appreciation' of the military goes any deeper than, 'Shit is badass, dude!' He's not really an auteur

Is this going to be a thing now with all culture writers under the age of 35—the need to find deeper meaning in the reality shows that have become so ubiquitous in the past 15 years? I mean, I get that it is a popular outlet and that in many ways a legal drama can be considered the same…but just because you watch

It works because it is set almost entirely in the aftermath of a battle. Most war movies are going to prove Truffaut—and later Anthony Swofford—right because, essentially, battle fucking rocks. What is terrible is the other 95% of being in a war.

It probably helps that WWII was such a collective experience—because so many people served it wasn't as alienating to fight and return to civilian life.

I don't know, a show is a show and isn't beholden to anyone besides the creators and writers. Fans should stick to being fans and do their job—promote the things you like and encourage others to join the business. In other words, don't angry-tweet about The 100 not fulfilling your specific desires, talk about those

If I could shut off one element of my personality, it would be reticence for opening up to people. Maybe it's just fear of judgement, but it causes me to have far too many superficial relationships and not nearly enough meaningful ones.

Mostly episodes of The West Wing, both to cleanse my mind from anything Trump/Cruz related and also with the hope that I'll be sucked into that much more reasonable world, Pleasantville-style.

Jenny Lewis — Slippery Slopes
Tame Impala — Feels Like We Only Go Backwards
Punch Drunk Tagalongs — Alice
Rilo Kiley — Spectacular Views
The Killers — Smile Like You Mean It
Pixies — Debaser

My old job required me to be an authority figure and I enjoyed, it, but what has caught me off guard has been realizing that I am old enough for 'young people' ask me advice. Because I am me and can directly trace my thoughts back to being a teenager, I don't really feel that old. Yet I now have younger relatives

Huh, didn't know Duke basketball was friends with Garry Shandling.

I think this episode was really good at showing how nominally terrible people are often caught in this kind of feedback loop of other people's shitty actions. Marnie harbors the kind of innocuously obnoxious desire for a carefully curated wedding, but she ends up picking an awful man in Desi who treats her terribly

We're through the looking glass here, people Alice.

I'll support any candidate willing to take on Big Portmanteau. Let's take back our language, people.

I kind of like that element of the costume design. That seems like a really human touch that Hannah would have a terrible sense of fashion and insist on wearing clothes that are far too small to be flattering. It also kind of plays into her defensive identity—she, rightly, wants to wear whatever…but what she wears

Eh, I was kind of shaking my head that Jessa—a supreme narcissist—would be rewarded with a bankroll the second she decides to contribute to society. I can understand the attraction between her and Adam, but to instantly have the, 'I stand by you and will fund your career because you deserve it' speech seems a little

30 Rock, The Office, and especially King of the Hill fill me with the snark necessary to combat smug, non-hungover people.

I'm planning a big road trip, and I'm already excited to visit a bunch of places out here on the west coast and see the sights.

As a former gymnast, I'll probably have to see this—if only for the gawking, cringe factor. I do think it's interesting to look at certain Olympic sports, such as gymnastics or figure skating, that turn the most successful participants into proto-child stars. If you're being catered to from age 12 on and out of a job

A lot of the commentary we see on cases like this is along the lines of, 'It's okay for me to render judgement, because I'm just a commenter in the court of public opinion.' And really, that's fine. The scary part of this documentary is seeing that mentality bleed over into people who are, ostensibly, supposed to be
