Yeah I’ll second that. Good job dealing with a majorly sketch situation and coming out in one piece. Who cares if pizza is a meal or not at that point!

I’ve developed film the “right way” a few times, but once I found stand development and a system that works for me I haven’t looked back. Yeah it takes longer at around 75 minutes for dev plus washing and fixing, but it took all of the calculation out of the mix so I think it’s worth it. I mix box speed and pushed

I actually am probably the last of the people to have grown up with cassette tapes, learn on a film camera, and I did learn to type on a typewriter even though computers were definitely around and more affordable then before.

I’ve been asked that same question a number of times, and have come to the conclusion that there is no one right answer to that, and especially not an answer that will sway those that don’t get it.

Could your car drive on the ceiling too?

I have been tempted to rebadge a Saturn Astra as an Opel Astra before. And by tempted, I mean I own neither an Astra nor the Opel grill or badges, but after having fun in Ireland with a rental Opel Corsa my wife and I thought it would be fun to have a European hatchback here at home. Given that you can find a 5 speed

Swallowing the contents of a Williams Sonoma catalog and then coating every square inch or your Craftsman style house in the Hamptons with the ensuing projectile vomit is not a good look.

Well, my prediction from the article about Ryan leaving turned out to be true. So........... yay?

I bet Alanis King’s pizza take is that she doesn’t actually like pizza

Blah blah blah head gasket this, unreliable turbo that. I’ve had 3 Subarus now, and not one has needed a head gasket, even to well over 100k miles. My current one is turbo, I’ve had it nearly 3 years and I’m running 20% more power over stock and I’ve never had engine or turbo issues. Currently at 160k miles on the

Don’t worry, I live in NY and have been keeping an eye on craigslist for one already. Right now there isn’t much except a very high mileage 740gl wagon that needs a clutch for $400, and a few rusted out 240s. While normally a fan of wagons, for maximum Euro Rallyness I think a sedan is needed.

I have 2 vespa piaggio ciaos sitting in my basement right now, awaiting a rebuild. One of them was my first powered vehicle when I was 14, and somehow after it stopped working a couple years later and I had a “real” motorcycle a second one still showed up.

Oh I understand, and you are right most places are legally required not to do this. Cars are tuned from the factory to be biased towards understeer for the same reason - the general public aka the least common denominator. Still, this is Jalopnik, and while anybody can get on the internet and read an article I’d like

I actually appreciate that, thanks

Not that I’d advocate anyone doing this as yeah it is a real thing, but I’d take oversteering with the ability to steer and brake over understeering helplessly into a tree with no ability to brake any day. “Just go slow” you say? Ok that works until you hit the first big hill (there are a lot around here) and suddenly

Agreed. I currently drive an AWD car with 4 snows, so it’s kind of a mute point for me... but having had a FWD car I know the power of the throttle to fix oversteer. With good tires on the front you can make that pretty effective, and I’d much rather deal with that than not being able to brake or turn at all

Different strokes, etc... but that’s more than I paid for my Outback XT - an actual turbo manual wagon with way less miles than this car and all factory parts.
