I too just got back from a week of driving Ireland, although I was in a Renault Clio this time. I did it once before for a week in an Opel Corsa, which I preferred to the Clio.

? If I could do that I’d already own another one. This was 14 years ago, before “cash for clunkers” and the big surge in vintage BMW prices - and it was rusted out to boot. It wouldn’t happen again today

I had an ‘84 528e as my first car 14 years ago. It was rusted out and had over 300k miles on it, but I only paid $200 for it. I drove it for a year and sold it when it didn’t pass inspection the following year for the same $200.

Yeah, I believe you are right. I think I’m being duped by the “look what we can do now!” demos rather than the actual advancements of the display technology. There’s nothing wrong with improving!

Hey I’m all for improving technology, and the ability to display better colors and get rid of banding are all great things. That said, shutter speed and aperture have nothing to do with dynamic range other than they are 2 of the 3 elements of exposure, which dictates where your image falls on within the range of light

If you’re unfamiliar with HDR, it’s a video format with an expanded contrast ratio that makes colors more accurate and more vibrant than non-HDR (Standard dynamic range, or SDR) video. full of enough nauseating hyper-real colors to make you sick

Didn’t the governor of NY JUST give them a $1 mil tax break to stay? Lot of good that did... can we get that back?

Due to not having much money when us kids were younger (my mom was in nursing school and my dad was working in a music store and finishing up his Master’s degree for teaching) my earliest car memories were a string of bad cars.

Yeah I was kind of hoping that would happen here, but no luck. I guess the difference is in your case it was a friend... in my case I’m just some random person on the internet. I mean Orlove follows me on Instagram, can that count for some form of verification?

The NA 2.5s are the ones with the real bad head gasket issues... the turbo ones have their own sets of issues, but the hg isn’t usually one unless you crank the boost.

So you’re telling me there is a rally car now sitting in storage in upstate NY? As an upstate NYer I’d happily volunteer to.... look after it if need be. You know, keep it company, drive it around, maybe bring it inside on a cold night for a warm meal.

Oh hey! This 2 tone green Bugatti T57 was just on the other coast in my town of Saratoga NY for a week as part of the ABC Bugatti Rally. I chatted with the owner for a while on Saturday. A very cool event bringing 100 prewar Bugatti together to drive 1000 miles or so on public roads. I had no idea it was going to

Let’s see we’re a high end car dealer selling a 1 of 4 Jaguar supercar featured in a bond film? Right-o, I’ve got my potato cam 4000 ready to go. I’ll overexpose everything and even smear some Vaseline on the lens for good measure. That ought to help sell it, no?

Am I rad enough to be there? No, I’ll be flying back from Ireland after a week of bombing beautiful farm roads in a rental hatchback. So in this case I’m just fine with not being rad.

Nothing official, but my wife’s step dad works at the Milford proving grounds and is familiar with the program. He says they’ve only ever referred to it as the “mid-engined Corvette” so I’d expect it to keep the name.

I agree with everything you said, except I’d add

I’m sure it’s hard for somebody like Fancy Kristen to write about money amounts when she has so much it’s never an issue

Yeah they offered a free upgrade at the rental counter and I said no thank you, please give me the smallest car you have. It ended up being the right call! It felt like it mixed in right with most of the other cars on the road.

On our Honeymoon in Ireland last year my wife and I got an Opel Corsa 5speed. All of 99hp, but I was able to use every bit of it. I already DD a manual and am a firm believer in the small car/slow car fast thing, but driving it around the narrow winding roads there was still a bit of a revelation. Every gear could be

Pike’s Peak definitely get’s the lions share of the limelight for the US, but here on this site Mt. Washington gets a lot of press when it happens (usually every other year). At least one writer has participated, as have several contributors to the site. I’ve been the last two times and it really is an experience like
