That is so interesting. Funny that it's still true that R&B is mostly represented by black performers. The only difference is that R&B is openly and universally appreciated.

Youth is wasted on the obsessive compulsive. I should know. I spent too much time worrying and not enough time Letting the Good Times Roll as Shirley & Lee described.

It seemed like Pop was played by white guys and R&B by black guys. I suppose you're saying that at the time.. Bobby Darin's Splish Splash or Jerry Lee Lewis's Great Balls of Fire were considered Rock & Roll where Shirley & Lee's Let the Good Times Roll or Little Richard's Good Golly Miss Molly were considered R&B

Was there a difference between Rock & R&B in 1959? I listen to a lot of 50's music and it seems like it was either R&B or pop. The terms rock and/or roll or rockin' & a rollin' was used in R&B lyrics, but seemed mostly to be a sexual reference… you know… describing what you do in bed.

I skimmed the list looking for XTC then sighed in disappointment.

Ugh. I'm so old… for me classing sitcoms are like a glass of wine after a long day. I love Louie, I love Wilfred, I love challenging interesting TV - but I also love sitting down and vegging out to a favorite actor doing his/her likeable thing. I know some people think that's wrong… but who cares. I watch The Exes,

Read them in elementary school. Creepy fun. Mary Poppins seems to leak magic and she's indifferent and cold when the children are in danger of falling through otherworldly gateways. This version is what I want to see: http://www.youtube.com/watc…

Me too. For me there were little elements that were off, like using fan-favorite episodes or elements as repeat gags. Sure, use "Cool cool cool" or "Britta'd" because those are character ticks you'd expect from anyone. But the jazz tune fit the Halloween episode so perfectly and told us something about Troy and Abed's

I just assumed it would be things like "Oh,you know I like this episode idea, but I would have had them turn left at this moment because it really turns this type of  story arch on it's head.." or "Yeah, I wasn't sure how I was going to follow through on the Troy / Britta relationship either. I just planned to address

I didn't watch Phantoms. It takes a really skilled director to translate that overall sense of dread to film - and when you're working with Rose McGowan and the wooden Ben Affleck, how far can you go? Intensity was pretty good as a TV movie - the director made the eerie moments eerie, and then transitioned right back

I'm so glad I'm not the only who's experienced this. I know authors should be allowed to write what they want, but… we read certain genres / authors just to be entertained. And, we imagine that our favorite genre authors enjoy their genre - they're writing the kinds of books they'd want to read themselves. If they're

Koontz  makes some really strange arguments to support his own personal moral absolutes, and it just gives you the feeling he's having a mental breakdown. I actually did like the Fear Nothing surfer story (post Lightning), and was hoping that was a world he would build on. But he never finished the trilogy.

I've felt baited by authors who changed writing styles.
