You're right.

I agree that the system itself has its serious problems, but it also promotes good customer service and encourages people to do better.

You have to understand that your food taking a while or wrong toppings/fillings or even the server not coming around very often could very well not be the servers fault, and the server is the only person you hurt with your low tip. in order to solve most problems like that, please speak to a manager.

1)Inflation changes things sorry

I'm going to let nicecaucasian answer this: http://lifehacker.com/5929271/?comment=51317025

If your average service isn't good service, that should say tons about the way you tip.

I really like this. Thank you.

I'll quote Jeff Daniels on this one: "I'm on a mission to civilize"

30*.20=6

Yeah, I waited tables for 6 years. I had to stop because of the stress, but it was great money while I did it. And yeah, it is a LOT of work.

You're right its not up to the servers, but who told you society said 15%? I'm sure it wasn't society as a whole. There should be standards based on cost of living, but then there need to be studies and education, which isn't done yet. I know from experience that most (I'd say about 85%, but I pulled it out of my ass)

Ask any server. you're not the norm, you're the outlier, and an annoying one at that. The problem is that it's taboo for servers or restaurants to talk about what tips should be and that there is no standardized education in societal etiquette. please start tipping more, or stop going out to eat. its embarrassing to

I hadn't looked into it, but I was under the impression that most other states don't do this. Do most of them?

Anyone who tips less than 20% for good service in the USA should not go out to eat. (I personally feel they should be castrated along with idiot drivers, but thats just me)

In Maryland, where I live and waited tables for 5 years, If you have a party of 10 or more, automated gratuity will be taxed. http://business.marylandtaxes.com/taxinfo/salesanduse/salesoffood/restaurant.asp

Yeah but are those lights, stop signs, or yield signs? if they're yield signs, i would much rather drive on this.

No the worst is Dupont Circle in DC. I just made this picture. There are 4 lanes, 5 stop lights in the circle and 9 streets going into the circle. its a fucking mess. at the two places that i put stars, the light for people coming into the circle will change to a yellow flashing light and the light for people in the

ooohhh yugo

Around here we say "Stop, 1, 2" and roll on through (mostly as a parody to the shit they told us in driver's ed. years ago). Hey, it counts as long as you say it.
