What if you could buy a brand new ‘16 370Z for 26 grand, essentially the same price as a base FR-S (Scion is non-negotiable). Is this a game changer? http://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/…

Z car fighter? Who’s fighting Z cars right now? I don’t know but I’d guess they sell way less 370z’s then they do the Subayota twins.
What are you talking about 6 grand off a fr-s? Scion “pure pricing” doesn’t allow any discounts. Unless you’re talking about a used car?
I’d love to see this too. I actually think a bare bones nd (granted they’re not so bare bones!) would be the best way to buy it especislly since you’re saving 8 grand by foregoing the performance goodies. I’d mainly be using this to do weekend cruising and canyon carving. Even if you do a track day 3 times a year I’m…
Fuck the s2000 it’s so uncomfortable and so peaky. The nd has a nice heady stream of torque that probably makes it feel faster than an s2000 in daily driving. I do love the dash design of the s2000 though to this day!
True! I remember when the 350z came out in 2003 it was not much faster than that and it had almost 300 hp! The current 370z is however a full second faster. (not likely not as much fun to drive)
Those were cool rigs back in the day!
Spot on about Mazda. They're building simpler bmws that are bulletproof, super economical and reliable for cheap prices. Their engineering department is at another plane above all others at least mainstream automakers.
Yes, bravo!! And you can't disagree with this until you drive an ev for a week. A real ev not a stopgap hybrid!!
I too am considering the abarth. It can be had for well under 20 grand and it's really cheap used! There are some upgrades available from the aftermarket too
Wait a sec! Rod Stewart? One hit wonder??? What the hell are you smoking?
Actually it was the previous gen Miata that was built on the existing rx8 platform.
Several people have commented that lack of terrain is directly proportionate to lack of twisties. Not necessarily. Look at Australia, generally a pretty flat country, but look at how twisty it is!
Why not just get a Nissan Frontier then with a 6 speed manual borrowed out of a 370z and a 4.0 vq v6?
But, new Miata!!!
I had something like a ‘14 Nissan Rogue “Select” (the extension of the previous model) as a rental car a few months ago, and it was the most atrocious thing I’ve driven in awhile. Yeah it was big and roomy with big cushy seats, and fairly quiet and got decent gas mileage. That’s about all I can say about it. It didn’t…
Good points, except, the Nismo 370 is no faster than the base 370, if not even a touch slower due to being heavier and having more drag!
Thank you for writing this article. I was a huge Nissan fanatic when I was growing up. When I was 16 I talked my Dad into buying a ‘95 Altima SE, black, with a stick shift. I thought it was the coolest car ever. He actually test drove a plain Maxima with a stick at the time and liked it better but I talked him into…
Just one thing you “missed the boat” on was about the kids be stuck with a 4 cyl hybrid challenger when they grow up. I’m fairly sure in 20 years hybrids will be history! They are currently a stop gap until full electrics are suitable for the masses which will happen in the next 20 years. So, as driving enthusiasts,…
