The Lobster — More of an interesting thought experiment than a movie. More of a depressing-as-shit tragedy than an absurd surreal comedy. Colin Farrell in this is more of a "Hey, that wanker Christian Bale got praise for going all dadbod and schlubby, maybe it'll work for me too" stunt than a performance. Just a

Partially I'd blame the production style, which is unsuited to their sound (all the songs sound a lot better live), and also the track order doesn't make much sense (as I recall, it goes 3 fast songs, followed by 3 slow songs, then alternating fast/slow/fast/slow the rest of the way or something weird like that).

What's wrong with being Cool for the Summer?

I bailed on Louie during an episode where he sleeps with a hot woman, then he accidentally breaks her face with his elbow, then her family sues him for 10 billion dollars or something. Like, why am I watching this miserable shitty wallow? We get it, Louis. Nothing good can ever happen. You've made your point. This is

Can anyone confirm or deny that appearing in Shia Labeouf's ripoff film had an adverse effect on Gaffigan's acting career?

Did you ever watch Endless Summer II? I haven't seen it in years, but I remember liking that one as well. If you like 60s/70s surfing/documentary films, Five Summer Stories is another good one.

A Boy Named Charlie Brown has some quality acid-fried sequences as well.

"Dissident" has my absolute favorite PJ moment: They rip into the chorus one final time, Eddie sings "She couldn't hold on… she couldn't hoooooold" and during this, Ament's bass suddenly jumps an octave and plays a fantastic ascending/descending lick, meanwhile McCready's lead guitar wails the highest possible note

I love "Leash". One of the only times you'll hear Eddie embracing his generational savior status instead of bucking against it.

Sleight Of Hand is SO GODDAMN GOOD. Psychedelic weirdo progressive metal or something.

TOP 20 PJ:

Did anyone ever collect all the trading cards?

Damn straight this movie has Easy Rider Snoopy.

Maybe you! Maybe you! Maybe you! Maybe you!

For several good reasons why, probably.

Friday is a GREAT choice.

I love the part where Nick Mason loses a drumstick in the middle of a fill, casually pulls another drumstick out of nowhere, and finishes the fill without missing a beat.

Race For Your Life, Charlie Brown. Childhood freedom, innocence, danger, frustration, abandonment, getting bullied, battling the elements, satirizing the democratic process… this movie has it all.

Open letter to Brie Larson: You are too good for this, drop out now. Look what happened to J-Law after 3 X-Men movies; you don't want to become that.

Coherence was one of the greatest sci-fi films in recent years. I watched it randomly knowing basically nothing about it and it damn near took my head off.
